Red Oak
My sister-in-law suggested to a work friend of hers who had just moved into a new house outside of Des Moines that her brother-in-law might be interested in making a head board and night stands for their new bedroom. The new house used dark stained red oak for the woodwork and cabinetry so it was agreed to match this wood. The headboard was made from 5/4 oak with plywood panels so it is quite heavy. Images below show progress photos prior to assembly. Finished installation photos are pending.
